Friday January 13th sees The End invite Marky and his illustrious group of friends back to put on a show which will set the precedent for the rest of the year. Marky & Friends is back for the first night of 2006, which promises to be an aural extravaganza.  The night has gone from strength to strength in 2005 unleashing a tirade of acts previously unseen on the same bill before, and this month is shaping up to be no exception.

Marky is renowned across the globe for his technical proficiency and ability to play to any crowd, anywhere, at anytime and keep the dance floor moving. And for all those who don¹t believe it, he¹s going to prove it with an incredible, almost unheard of 8 hour set! That¹s right, 8 hours, an amazing feat indeed, but one that the inimitable Marky is more than prepared for. Having established himself as a truly class act through lively 2,3 and even 6 hour sets in Sao Paulo, Marky is reaffirming his status as one of the greatest DJ¹s in the world and a true crowd pleaser, with his longest solo stint behind the decks in the UK to date.

Joining in with the fun in the Lounge is the formidable Norman Jay MBE. Always a pleasure and never a bore, Norman is synonymous with everything that is good about music, whether it¹s a classic from the vinyl vaults or a new school champion there is always going to be something for the discerning listener and club reveller alike to take home with them. Well known for his ŒGood Times¹ Carnival sets which draw thousands to the side of a bus on carnival weekend, and with a 2 hour set in which to showcase his talents, be sure to expect a lot of homework!

The diversity of the night, and an indication of the intention to continue with it\'s groundbreaking format, is underlined by the introduction of the Batmacumba Crew namely founder DJ Cliffy and resident Spiritual South. Running for over eight years, Batmacumba has come to represent the best of Brazilian dance music, from Rio Funk to Brazil Bossas, and has yet to disappoint. Using more of a mix of genuine Latin music rather than Latin sounding music makes Batmacumba a more acoustically rewarding and personal experience in which the music takes centre stage.

DJ Marky & Friends is once again providing the perfect start to your weekend with a tried and tested formula of culturally diverse acts for a musically diverse capital. Previous stalwarts of the industry in attendance have been: Gilles Peterson, DJ Zinc, Laurent Garnier, Vikter Duplaix and Bugz in the Attic and that is just the start. Remember, these events are rewriting the D&B rulebook so join the revolution!
