Passenger Records are proud to release their brand new album project 'This Way Up' a collaboration between D'n'B's golden child Friction and breaks legends Aquasky's Passenger Records
this album looks set to be one of the most exciting projects in it's
genre this year. It will be released on Sept 24th with 6 vinyl samplers
released between July - November (exclusive promos available now in our
shop!)
Featuring twelve brand-spanking news tracks commissioned by Aquasky especially for this album 'This Way Up' features hot, unreleased tunes from some of the scenes leading producers including Tom Real & The Rogue Element, Klaus Hill, Nick Thayer, Dopamine, Kid Blue, Rico Tubbs, Rob Le Pitch, Australian DnB producer Phetsta, UK deebee producers Friction's first foray into breaks alongside new material from Aquasky themselves.
IT'S THE NEW SHIIIIIT >>>

To kick-start the project we deliver the first double A-side to be
released from the project and crikey, it's a double barrelled belter.
First up we have the versatile genius that is Nick Thayer teaming up with his new writing partner Micah
representing the sound of Australia. This tune is something completely
different from Mr.Thayer, a sort of cross between the Prodigy and a Roy
Budd film score. It has been pigeon-holed at the Passenger HQ as
'Festival Breaks' as this will tear the roof off any arena and leave
many ketamine casualties shaking in their tents!
On the flipside we have breaks new-comer Phetsta,
representing Perth, Australia. His production had been coming to the
attention of Passenger Records by his recent d&b outings on Simon
Bassline Smith's Technique label. When approached he was keen to rise
to the challenge and with a little 'grooming' we have unearthed a
future player of the breaks scene. With a similar vibe as Noisia's
'Gutterpump' and with equal production abilities, this is a summer
groove that will keep the dancefloor warm and bubbling till winter.

'Have A Good Time' does exactly what it says on the tin. Featuring Florida's leading Miami bass MC Acafool
a man responsible for the shaking of more 'ass (…and quite probably
'titties' too) than your average male rapper drops 2007's essential
lyric 'Face down, ass up…' alongside numerous other belters over the
top of the 'Sky's tub thumping beats and bass. Drafted in on the remix
are the unstoppable Sinden and The Count Of Monte Cristal
(AKA Herve / Speaker Junk) and to say this duo is on fire is something
of an understatement. Sinden has remixed well, everyone including Lady Sovereign, Plan B, Basement Jaxx, Mary J Blige, Bugz In the Attic, Bonde De Role, Roxan Shante and many many (many) whilst Herve has been equally as busy a boy notably with his and Sinden's 'Beeper', one of the anthems of early 2007 and remixes of
New Young Pony Club, Roisin Murphy, Unklejam, Princess Superstar
and billions more. Basically, either one of them could hold their own
in a disco, but together they have absolutely mashed the remix of 'Have
A Good Time' delivering a slice of UK garage-meets-Miami Bass at Fabric
mix. Tough.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tom Real & The Rogue Element have been producing together for nearly three years, signed as a duo to Functional Records and Ben Rogue to Exceptional, their singles such as 'Feel My…' and 'Resistance 06 / He's So Hot Right Now' have drawn critical claim from all corners. Beginning 2007 by winning 'Best Remix' at Breakspoll for their remix of Noisia's massive 'Gutterpump' (Passenger / Skint) as well as Ben Rogue's win as 'Best Producer' at the same awards has seen both artists take 2007 by storm. Having remixed Functional Records 50th release 'Shoe Monkey' by Spoon Wizard and also 'Trip Like Me' for American breakers The Crystal Method, the duo have DJ'd all over the globe and leading festivals such as Glastonbury, Glade, Wildchild Outdoors and many more. 'Machine'
is Tom & Rogue's first single since winning their Breakspoll awards
and with it's stripped back, tech-meets-electro-breaks edge is simply
like something you've never heard before.
On the flip, Klaus 'Heavyweight' Hill drops the pressure with 'Gurnface'
apparently written whilst the big man was celebrating his most recent
birthday and was slighty, errrr 'refreshed' 'Gurnface' is a proper big
tune that quite literally wears it's name on it's sleeve. Klaus Hill
has forged a career as one of the UK's leading producers in breaks with
original productions and remixes on labels such as Distinctive, Botchit & Scarper, TCR, Ministry Of Sound, Mob and remixes of artists including UNKLE, Jakatta, DJ Sneak, Atomic Hooligan and The Beastie Boys, now in exile in Australia (only joking folks) Klaus and his 'Title Fight'
imprint now rule the roost in Sydney, with a residency at the countries
top club 'Home' Klaus has introduced the nation to his unique brand of
cuddly love fun and will continue to do so whilst Global Warming is
still in it's infancy.
