An update from Bulldozer Media.
2006 is out, old news, l?histoire (as some may say), and January catches us in one of those awkward periods of the year. As half of the population looks back to reminisce over the good, the bad and the ugly parts of last year, the other half is determined to look forward to New Year resolutions, knowing that summer will only be a few short months away and finally getting a chance to do all the things we didn?t get around to in ?06.
Well, at Bulldozer our glass is always half full and with the plethora of activity going on behind the scenes all we can do is gaze into the future with starry eyes, as we get ready for what is surely going to be a great year for all involved.
DJ Marky
DJ Marky has been on his travels again recently with a tour to Australia and New Zealand. Once again he was absolutely blown away by the aura of the Australasian continent, its people and their passion for good music, especially Marky?s very special blend of DnB. Taking in cities such as Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Auckland and Christchurch re-established his affection for that part of the world. The tour went really well and Marky would like to thank everyone involved from organisers to audience for their part in making it an amazing and truly memorable New Year experience.
So 2006 was a massive year for DJ Marky. A single in a Top 10 Dance chart, the international syndication of his branded club night ?DJ Marky & Friends? at Womb Club in Japan, a label that continues to grow in stature and presence ? what more could one ask for? More of the same in 2007, that?s what! And what a way to start ? this month sees Mixmag put DJ Marky in their Top 20 DJ list which is an immense achievement considering the quality that is coming to the fore at the moment. Add this to being the second placed Drum & Bass DJ in DJ Mag?s Top 100 DJ list means that there is plenty to smile about in the infant stages of the new year.
However, DJ Marky?s professionalism does not permit him to sit back, and plans for the forthcoming year are equally as expansive, if not more so, than those in 2006.
The ?DJ Marky & Friends? brand continues to gain a reputation as one of the more innovative and pleasurable experiences on the club circuit. Not restricting the night to any one genre or combination therein, ?DJ Marky & Friends? attempts to push the boundaries of what is generally perceived to be a Drum & Bass event. Legendary performances by Vikter Duplaix, Gilles Peterson, Fabio and an eight-hour marathon set by DJ Marky himself, really established the night in its own niche. Revellers travelled from far and wide to be a part of the experience and the plans for 2007 are to take the gigs to the people with a few specially selected nights around the country in March ?07. Yes DJ Marky and his illustrious group of friends will be travelling around the UK and mainland Europe in a bid to show exactly what a night out with some of the best DJs could and should be like. Be sure to keep the following dates free for the ?DJ Marky & Friends? experience:
14th March
Audio ? Brighton
16th March
Medicine Bar ? Birmingham
20th March
Tuesday Club ? Sheffield
21st March

Bungle
Bungle is off on his travels and not a moment too soon either. The young prodigy?s profile has been growing continuously over the past 12 months and this year he is set to make his mark on the Drum & Bass community in a massive way.
His debut album ?Down To Earth? is in the final stages of production and the first single is just about ready to hit the press. Having a label such as CIA behind him on this, his debut studio album effort, is a major coup and one that will surely see him elevated to the highest pedestal possible. In order to promote the album fully, a monster tour is in the process of being finalised. Yes indeed, at long last Bungle will be touring the UK, US and mainland Europe. Dates are already pencilled in and the tour will be kicking off in the UK in March with some dates already confirmed at the best nights around the country including a few special appearances alongside DJ Marky at his branded ?DJ Marky & Friends? events scheduled to be syndicated around the country for the first time. Needless to say Bungle is extremely excited to be making his international debut, one may even say chomping at the proverbial bit! On the subject of his inaugural visit to the UK Bungle had this to say:
?It is an amazing feeling to anticipate taking the ?Down To Earth? album directly to the people on the dancefloors and seeing first-hand what the people think of it. I have been waiting to do a tour like this for some time now and the idea of coming to the UK for the first time as a DJ is really exciting!?
