Pendulum Chibuku Birthday Interview

Tell us what you have been up to and what your plans are for 2007?

Priority one this year has been our second album, which we?re hoping to finish before the summer so that we can drop a single during the summer and then the album around September.

Have you made the switch from vinyl to CD, or are you still a traditional DJ? Which do you prefer and why?

I play both but its leaning largely towards cd these days. It?s compact and I can test out a lot of our new material. There?s massive arguments for both mediums so I guess its good to use both, I always have spare plates in my bag and vice versa for cds because you never know what piece of equipment is going to crap out, they both do.

The super club is dead, long live the smaller club. Thoughts?

Both are awesome, there?s nothing cooler then having a massive club jammed of people all going off to your set, but on the flip side of the coin sometimes the best shows are the intimate few hundred person clubs where everyone is just right up close and going off and seeing what you?re doing and feeding off your energy and you?re feeding off theirs.

You?re one of the may DJs playing the Chibuku Birthday on March 17th in Liverpool ? are you excited?

Well without trying to sound like I?m fence sitting and bigging up every town I play in as the best, yes, love to come up north, some of the best crowds for us are up north, I don?t know what you put in the water up there but you?ll go off every time.

What can we expect from you?

New pendulum material we?re testing out a few things at the moment, will also throw some breaks and tech house maybe even some rock in there, but it?ll be blended so you don?t know what hit you until it?s over!

What track do you never leave home without?

Too many to name one, and I think I?d get bottled off the stage if I didn?t play ?Fasten Your Seatbelts?, ?Slam? and our ?Voodoo People? remix in every set.

And if your house was on fire, which one track would you salvage?

I?d grab our hard drives, all the back up drives, my best guitars and run (is that too much stuff?) they?re all important. That?s like picking a favourite son? be fair

Lastly, tell us something no one knows about yourself.

But then everyone would know??.. OK, even though I am Australian one of my ancestors (from Newcastle) built the first steam train, his name was George Stephenson and thus lent the people of Newcastle the name ?Geordies? (so I?m lead to believe) , but you?re from Liverpool?? so you don?t care :-)
